Just Out to Have a Happy Time...

We are cousins, neighbors, and best friends from Philadelphia. Growing up, we always spent our summers together on Nantucket. Our favorite activities were (and still are) catching minnows on Coatue, driving our little boat around the harbor, and spending time with family at Dionis.

Happy Time Snacks was the product of extensive effort, a little bit of spontaneity, and a whole lot of enthusiasm. Our business plan was simple. We sold sodas, juices, snacks, and beach toys of all sorts from our boat. Island service, at off-island prices. Our aim: to give everyone on Nantucket a Happy Time. If we wouldn't want it, we wouldn't sell it. If we wouldn't pay it, we wouldn't list it.

If you were on Nantucket the first week in July, you might have seen us in our 17' Bristol Skiff. We were the guys in the Hawaiian shirts and captains hats. Next summer we'll be back, with expanded service and the same great attitude. Give us a holler-- we'll be glad to serve you.

We hope you had a Happy Time this summer, we sure did.

Sincerely,
Mike and Tom Lefevre

Our Story ...

A few days before he left Philadelphia for his vacation house in Nantucket, Mike was in the shower brainstorming ways to spend his days off in the summer. He had a job at the University of Massachusetts Boston Nantucket Field Station, and his cousin Tom was a volunteer at the Nantucket Boys and Girls Club. The idea Mike settled on was to sell snacks right off the family's 17' Bristol Skiff. At dinner that night, Mike shared his idea with Tom, who decided on the name Happy Time Snacks.

Three days later, Mike and Tom received a phone call from the Nantucket Health Department ordering them to "cease and desist."
